Bitter Within Ordered Society

Japanese citizen seem to be intoxicated by interminable news briefings about Tohoku earthquake and Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant. It is almost a mass hysteria that some self-serving people in the safer locations in Japan buy up certain foods, bare bone essentials, and gasoline. I really feel offended to see the consumers making a long line and purchasing a quantity of milk and toilet paper-rolls. What makes difference to your family by buying such stuffs that last only several weeks or months? If you have fear of radiation contamination, the thing you should do is not buying up the materials, but you should leave eastern Japan. In any case, even if your car is filled up, once the nuclear reactor blows up, you will never be able to evacuate with your car. Accordingly, we should abstain from driving. The disaster victims are starving for gasoline and heating oil. There is no reason for us to consume gas without sheer necessity. Though, I am not inflicting this opinion to anyone. This is just my thought, but I hope as many advocates get by on less.

Some overseas media report the great social organization in the disaster area, and crying up the cultural background of it. Actually I am not really feeling proud of hearing such news. We have to solve a myriad of incoming issues caused by this earthquake. It is not a time for looking back with deep emotion yet. As a businessman, my first priority is keeping my daily business in normal and safe status. This is very important for both my household budget and Japanese/WorldWide economy. The extent of the impact is very small, but NOT ZERO.

I have to earn as much as I can, and consume in Japan market. My friends staying in metro area must have been thinking the same way.
